About John

John Orlando is a technology executive, strategic advisor, and former Chief Information Officer with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations align technology investments with business strategy and enterprise value creation. Throughout his career, he has advised boards, CEOs, and executive leadership teams on technology investments, operating models, and organizational priorities that improve performance and position organizations for sustained growth.

John brings the uncommon perspective of both a Big Four strategy consulting Partner and Chief Information Officer, giving him firsthand experience leading organizations from the boardroom through execution. He has guided global organizations through growth initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, leadership transitions, and operating model redesign, earning him a reputation for practical judgment, disciplined execution, and an unwavering focus on business outcomes.

Today, John serves as Head of Technology Transformation for Water Street Healthcare Partners, one of the healthcare industry’s leading private equity investment firms. Working across Water Street’s portfolio companies, he partners with executive leadership teams to strengthen operations, accelerate growth, and create long-term enterprise value through technology. His role spans strategic advisory, executive coaching, operating model design, and hands-on leadership, helping portfolio companies execute complex initiatives with discipline and confidence.

Previously, John was a Partner in EY’s IT Strategy practice, where he advised Fortune 500 organizations on technology strategy and transformation. His work spanned healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, construction, higher education, and industrial sectors, serving some of the world’s largest and most sophisticated organizations. He worked closely with executive teams to align technology with business priorities, helping organizations make better decisions, execute more effectively, and deliver lasting results.

John has earned the trust of boards, private equity firms, and executive leadership teams who have repeatedly called upon him to serve as Chief Information Officer during periods of significant change. At organizations including RTI Surgical, Zenith American Solutions, ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, and Take Care Health Systems, he led technology organizations through acquisitions, divestitures, executive transitions, cybersecurity initiatives, and large-scale business integrations, strengthening operations while positioning each organization for its next stage of growth.

Earlier in his career, John was a Partner at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and later served as an executive with West Monroe Partners before establishing his own advisory firm. He led complex strategic and technology initiatives for organizations including CNA Financial, Hallmark Services Corporation, Northern Trust, Health Care Service Corporation, and leading academic medical institutions, helping leaders turn strategy into execution while building stronger, more resilient organizations.

John earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accountancy, with a minor in Computer Science, from Miami University, where he also completed a full academic year at the John E. Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg. He later completed post-baccalaureate pre-medical studies at Loyola University Chicago and medical coursework at Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, experiences that broadened his multidisciplinary approach to solving complex business challenges.
