About Mary Kay

Dr. Mary Kay Vona is a globally recognized management consultant, organizational strategist, and workforce transformation leader with nearly four decades of experience helping enterprises navigate periods of disruption, reinvention, and accelerated change. She is known for her ability to translate complex business and technology challenges into practical organizational strategies that align leadership, culture, talent, and execution. Her philosophy is grounded in a simple belief: transformation succeeds when human systems evolve alongside business systems.

Throughout her career, Mary Kay has advised CEOs, boards, and executive leadership teams across Financial Services, Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment, Automotive, Energy, Healthcare, and Technology. Her work spans enterprise transformation, organizational design, workforce modernization, leadership development, learning strategy, and large-scale change management. She is frequently brought into organizations during periods of volatility and transition – helping leadership teams stabilize operations, align stakeholders, modernize workforce capabilities, and execute enterprise-wide transformation initiatives with clarity and accountability.

Mary Kay built her career across several of the world’s leading professional services firms, including EY, IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Aon Consulting, where she held senior executive and Partner roles over more than 30 years. At EY, she served as Partner and Financial Services Practice Leader for People Advisory Services, leading transformational programs focused on organizational redesign, technology integration, stakeholder engagement, workforce transformation, and leadership alignment for some of the industry’s most complex institutions. She also co-founded EY’s Americas Learning Services Practice, helping organizations modernize enterprise learning and talent development strategies in response to changing business and technology demands.

Prior to EY, Mary Kay spent more than two decades at IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers leading global human capital and workforce transformation initiatives across industries including telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, utilities, financial services, media, and the public sector. As IBM’s Global Learning Executive and Human Capital Practice Leader, she advised multinational organizations on workforce optimization, operating model redesign, leadership development, and enterprise transformation tied to large-scale technology modernization and ERP implementation programs. Her work at IBM earned the company’s prestigious Golden Circle Award for client delivery excellence and business development leadership on one of the firm’s largest telecommunications transactions.

At Aon Consulting, Mary Kay served as Executive Vice President and Southeast Region leader, overseeing actuarial, retirement, health & benefits, and human capital consulting practices across nine markets and more than 500 professionals. During the 2008 financial crisis, she developed and launched “Rethinking Everything,” a nationally recognized change management and workforce transformation framework designed to help executive teams navigate economic instability, organizational disruption, and leadership uncertainty. The initiative became a defining example of her ability to guide organizations through periods where operational resilience, culture, and leadership execution must evolve simultaneously.

Today, Mary Kay focuses extensively on the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, workforce transformation, and executive leadership. She advises organizations on how to move beyond AI experimentation toward scalable adoption models that address talent readiness, organizational change, governance, and cultural accountability. Her perspective on the future of work and leadership in the age of AI has been featured through conferences, media publications, and academic forums including the Millennium Alliance Conference, Dark Reading, The George Washington University’s EdFix Podcast, and the Tampa Women’s Leadership Summit. Her widely cited perspective that “the war for cyber talent will be won through retention, not recruitment” continues to resonate as organizations compete for increasingly scarce AI and cybersecurity expertise.

Alongside her advisory work, Mary Kay has maintained a deep commitment to leadership development and higher education. She currently serves as a lecturer and MBA advisor at the University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management and has held adjunct faculty appointments at Vanderbilt University and The George Washington University, where she teaches and mentors graduate and doctoral students in organizational development, strategy, leadership, analytics, and human capital management. She also serves as a faculty leader for the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) Accelerator Certification Program, helping develop senior talent leaders globally.

Beyond her corporate and academic leadership, Mary Kay remains deeply engaged in civic and philanthropic initiatives focused on education, workforce development, and global opportunity creation. She currently serves as Vice President of the Board for FUTURO, Inc., and holds advisory roles with the World Institute of Action Learning (WIAL) and Simplitrain, Inc. She previously served as Chairwoman of Davis Akilah College, supporting educational advancement for young women in East Africa, and on the Advisory Board of the Florida Holocaust Museum.

Mary Kay holds a Doctor of Executive Leadership and Organizational Development from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Organizational Development from Mercyhurst University.
