About Norman
Norman Lonergan is a former Global Executive Board member of EY and a globally respected business leader with more than four decades of experience building, governing, and transforming complex international organizations. Over the course of his career, he has led multi-billion-dollar businesses operating in more than 150 countries, overseen large-scale acquisitions and integrations, and guided enterprises through sustained high growth, regulatory complexity, and structural change.
Norman joined EY in 2006 and was appointed to the firm’s main Global Executive Board in 2008, where he served for nearly twelve years during a period of consistent double-digit expansion. As Global Vice Chair of Advisory, he built and scaled EY’s consulting organization into an $11 billion enterprise with approximately 80,000 professionals worldwide. Under his leadership, the business combined disciplined organic growth with targeted acquisitions, strengthened risk governance and delivery oversight, and established an integrated operating model capable of serving the world’s largest institutions.
As a member of the Global Executive Board, Norman operated at the center of enterprise strategy and governance. He helped shape leadership succession, reinforce oversight frameworks, and direct investment priorities across technology, risk, and market expansion during a period of accelerated growth and heightened regulatory scrutiny.
In 2020, he assumed responsibility for the Global People Advisory business, leading workforce and organizational transformation initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic and helping clients navigate hybrid operating models, workforce redesign, and long-term resilience.
Earlier in his career, Norman held senior leadership roles at IBM and PwC Consulting, where he led major financial services practices and complex post-merger integrations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He began his executive career as Chief Information Officer of Anheuser-Busch International, serving on the international board and leading enterprise technology strategy across Europe and Asia. His early foundation in enterprise systems architecture continues to inform his disciplined, systems-oriented approach to strategy and governance.
Today, Norman serves as a Private Equity Advisor, Board Advisor, and Executive Coach. He advises boards, investors, and executive teams on growth strategy, M&A integration, operating model transformation, governance structures, and leadership development. He brings to boards firsthand experience building and stewarding global enterprises, leading through economic cycles and crisis environments, and balancing growth ambition with regulatory discipline and cultural cohesion.
Norman was educated in London. He is married with four children and splits his time between the UK and Australia. Norman is an avid rugby supporter and lifelong Arsenal fan. Outside of his professional life, he plays guitar and sings in a rock and blues band.
